(Capitalised terms used in this announcement shall have the same meanings as those used in the announcement dated 11 December 2012, unless otherwise stated.) We refer to the announcements dated 11 December 2012 and 8 March 2013 in relation to the Proposed Listing. On behalf of MMC, Maybank IB wishes to announce that MMC has been informed by the Board of Directors of MCB that it has decided to defer the implementation of the Proposals in view of the following developments: (i) the Tanjung Bin power plant will be undergoing major maintenance works which are expected to be substantially completed by the second (2nd) half of 2013; and (ii) potential positive outcome of certain growth opportunities currently being pursued by MCB which may, among others, increase the effective power generation capacity of MCB. In view of the abovementioned developments, the Board of Directors of MCB expects the Proposals to be completed no later than the first (1st) half of 2014, instead of the second (2nd) quarter of 2013 as envisaged earlier. In accordance with Paragraph 10.01 of the SC’s Equity Guidelines, MCB has six (6) months from 7 March 2013, being the date of the approval letter of the SC for the Proposals, to implement the exercise. Pursuant thereto, if required, an approval for an extension of time to implement the Proposals will be sought from the SC. This announcement is dated 10 May 2013.
